Apartment Cleaning Review

They charged my client $520.00 for a small one bedroom apartment. They did a horrible job and didn't clean the kitchen or bathroom. They barley cleaned anything at all. I am disgusted with this company.

Did not clean what I asked them to clean (floors and windows only), franchise owner very rude and disrespectful to customers!

On April 7th my mother suffered a physically debilitating stroke. On April 9th, while she remained in the hospital I called your company and requested the services of The Maids. I explained to the person on the phone that my mother had had a stroke, and that I needed help with cleaning her home for her. I explained that with a newborn and a 2 year old I could do the light cleaning but that the floors and windows were too much for me and would be too much for my mother when she returned. I explained that we were on a budget and she said that the minimum I could contract for with The Maids was $255.00. I said that was fine but that we could not exceed that amount. An agreement was reached and the appointment was made. When the team arrived the team leader and I talked in the kitchen. I explained that I needed the team to focus on the floors and the windows on the main floor - no upstairs, no walls, no dishes, no counters, just floors and windows. We did say that if they had time left over they could do other things, but my main concern was the floors and windows. I could not have been clearer. My sister was there as well and she reiterated – floors and windows. She agrees we could not have been clearer. As the house is very small, and I knew there would be cleaning products being used, I took my elderly father and sister and two children out to the local diner for the hour and a half that the cleaners needed. We did not want to be in their way, especially as the floors were being done. When we returned, 5 minutes before deadline, the maids had cleaned the kitchen and bathroom, done the dishes and cleaned only 3 out of 10 windows. No floors were cleaned and 7 of 10 windows had not been touched. The office called me just then to say the maids did not have time to do the floors and finish the windows and asked if I would like them to keep going. When I said ‘no, we were contracted for 1.5 hours and that is all I can afford’ they sounded shocked. So, basically, I spent $255 on a cleaning that I did not want and did not ask for, and my floors and windows still had not been done. My mother would be released from the hospital to filthy floors and windows. This is the point where I burst into tears and called them. they said:. 1. ‘you never mentioned floors and windows specifically and there’s nothing in the notes about it, so you must not have said that’ 2. ‘you must have spoken to some other company because the Maids regular team don’t do windows, they send a window team when you ask for windows to be cleaned’ 3. ‘We asked you if you wanted them to stay and keep cleaning and you said no, so it is your fault the work was not finished’ They then blamed me for the miscommunication, and said I ' got $255 worth of cleaning, and the kitchen was filthy and greasy so The Maids owes you nothing’. Refuse to come back to clean the floors and windows. In addition, after the cleaning, I was handed an acknowledgement of payment of $260 – more than the $255 we contracted for, and my credit card was eventually charged $276.36.

Unreliable and do not follow through their motto satisfaction guranteed!

Twice I've had to call and complain of poor service with stained floors and crumbs under my carpets!

The y clearly state that if the customer calls within 24 hours and if the clean is not to your satisfaction they will re clean FREE OF CHARGE!

Well after 2 complaints nothing's changed and they are also not willing to keep their word on satisfaction guranteed!

I was told a quality manager was hired to improve their services and after my call today I asked the. To send their manager to inspect and their owner REFUSED! And I will be charged the full clean amount!

i will never recommend them To anyone!!

They charge $255 for just an hour and a half with 4 people...you'd expect them to do clean. Do not use these people. It is a rip off.

Paid a lot of $ for the maids to clean, did not get what I expected AT ALL!!!

First of all they were 3 hours late getting to my house. They were here for a total of 2.5 hours. Had 4 people working. To start, kitchen floor is laminate, it was supposed to be hand washed, it looks as if they started to hand wash in the attached half bath and never finished. Kitchen sink never touched. Bathroom was clean except for the bath tub, never touched. My ceiling fan did not work after they were here. I paid $283.00 for a job that was not completed. I waited for them to call with a follow-up, as most companies will do a day or two after. They called two weeks later. I did not pick up phone, I know how this scenario will go if I complain.....tough luck. Never again will I use this service and I hope know one else will either.

Bad Cleaning Service Review

Never ever again! They asked how much my rent was. Very unprofessional. It looked like my 9yr old dusted and vacuumed. Bathroom was bleached over. Nothing was scrubbed.

Zero Accountability, Horrible Communication

Our problem was with the Cincinnati, Ohio branch of The Maids. We purchased a new home that was a wreck and needed a thorough cleaning before we could move in. We got all of the previous owner's trash out on our own, as well as did some cleaning on our own before contacting anyone (this house was a short sale that sat for 7 months, full of trash, mice and even raccoons...) My girlfriend contacted this company and was told about a "move-in special" that was not only exactly what we needed, but affordable. The salesperson tooted the horn of how thorough the crew was, and assured us that they wouldn't leave until the home was spotless or up to our standards. In the companies defense, they arrived on time and were polite. I met them on my lunch break to show them around the house, and wanted to make sure everyone was on the same page. I was under the impression that the crew was told that it was a "move-in cleaning" and that EVERYTHING was to be cleaned. I met the crew at the house and almost immediately got the vibe that these three women were interested in getting out of my house as soon as possible, with as little effort as possible. One of the ladies even said "Hmph, looks pretty clean in here to me..." I went over key things with them that we didn't want them to forget, and just assumed that they knew to do everything else. Not only did they not clean everything, but they only cleaned about half of the things I specifically pointed out. I told them I re-hung the blinds after painting the rooms earlier that week SO THEY COULD CLEAN THEM MORE EASILY... In fact, the salesperson told us specifically to hang the blinds or they wouldn't clean them, so not only was the office notified that we wanted blinds cleaned, the crew knew as well. Zero blinds were touched, we had to do them all on our own. I could go on for about three more paragraphs about what else was missed, but I think you get the point. When it was all said and done, we paid about $300.00 to have three people come in and wipe down our counters and do about ten minutes of vacuuming (That is a 'Move-In Special'?!?!?). We ended up doing everything that they did over again, and then some. The company agreed to refund a portion of the bill, but we feel that we should not have been charged at all. My neighbor was home the whole time and said the crew was there for two hours, but what they did was about a half hour's worth of work for one competent person. I cannot speak to the quality of their weekly/monthly maid services, but I can say that we are VERY upset with this "Move-in Special". You are better off to clean it yourself, especially since we were told that this was "One of the more dependable cleaning companies in town."

Overcharged My Credit Card After Paying In Full

THEY CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD $300.00 AFTER I PAID THEM $135.00 for exactly one hour of service. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. I HAD TO PUT A STOP ON MY CREDIT CARD AND AM GOING TO REPORT THEM TO THE BBB IN THE MORNING. Would you want to pay $435.00 for one hour of cleaning? Somehow they remove their bad reviews as one for 7/9/13 was there last night and now is gone this morning. I am the only review for a company who says they have been in business for years. This company is relying on the franchise name and the franchises that are building their businesses and not taking down customers one at a time.

I hired The Maids to come for exactly one hour to clean my kitchen floor and do three bathrooms on 7/5/13. I spoke to the owner Morris who told me that they would do anything I wanted them to do, no problem in that hour time span. They were running an Internet special so I got a $35.00 discount off of the $160.00 hourly rate. He also told me that he had to take my credit card and if I cancelled I would be charged $25.00 within three days of the cleaning, $50.00 within two days and $75.00 within one day. I DID NOT CANCEL OR CHANGE The appointment. I questioned him repeatedly about why he had to take my card and he assured me that it was just to put a hold on it and nothing would be charged on it unless I cancelled. That he owned the West Hills Franchise and that it was a corporate thing. I went ahead with it as I was having a party that weekend.

He told me that four people would arrive and I told him I wanted three of them to take a bathroom individually and one to do the kitchen floor. I wanted them for one hour. They came a little late and I told the girls where to go. The person designated as the team leader for the day started writing things down very slowly and didn't start in the kitchen for over 15 minutes.Suddenly, the owner Morris appears and tells me that he will give me a quote for future cleanings. He spent 10 minutes in the house walking around and my husband came out and asked who is this person and why is he walking around our house looking at everything. He felt very uncomfortable. He left after telling me the prices.

At about 45 minutes one of the girls told me that they were at the hour mark. I told them no they were not and that one girl was actually 15 minutes behind schedule as she was writing things down and not doing her job. One of the girls broke my oral toothbrush unit. They said fine and continued working. They went around 5 minutes over their time and tried to charge me for that. I told them that my husband refused to pay for it as they were late, one of the women did not get to work immediately and was extremely slow and did not get to the kitchen floor which was all I wanted in the kitchen even though I kept telling her to just get to the floor. We made them reissue a new receipt for the $135.00 and sign off on the other one trying to charge us more before we would pay them. We wrote PAID IN FULL as my husband said something just did not seem right with this company and he wanted to be careful. The check was paid within ten minutes of them leaving our home.

My husband just told me that he saw that The Maids just debited my credit card for $300.00. We just got off with the credit card company and have started a dispute for an unauthorized charge and shut the credit card down.

This is a company that is advertising in our local area and on the Internet. This is despicable behavior for a national company and we will continue to move forward with our dispute and reporting them. I feel sorry for your employees who are only trying to do their job as you are hurting their livelihood. Please stay posted for further updates. It would be wonderful if the owner would respond to this post but I anticipate that that will not happen and that this post will disappear. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!

The Maids of Durham stole from us

I employed the maids for almost a year to clean my house bi-weekly. I can say that they did a good job on the cleaning, however, I had the unfortunate experience of one of their employees stealing from us. I have had someone cleaning this house since I purchased it in 2000 and have never had a problem until now. My husband and I searched high and low to be sure that we had not misplaced the jewelry, but have never found it. The incident happened in March and we just received the news from their insurance company that they will not be paying the claim. When I called to report the incident, it took the owners, Wes and Melinda 2 1/2 weeks to get back with me. When he came over to talk with my husband and I, Wes agreed that our story matched his team leaders and that he would cooperate, by the time he filed a claim (in June), his story changed. This person popped out of our bedroom area with nothing in her hands while the rest of the team was outside loading the car. Their rule is that the team leader is the last out the door, and she was on her way back in to get her. As I understand it, the woman who stole from us is still employed with the Maids. I would not recommend doing business with these folks. They were paid for every clean, our home was always ready to be cleaned and we had never filed a complaint before then. Subsequently several things were broken after we reported the theft, I tried to give them a chance to make it right. It is now September, they stole $3500 worth of gold jewelry from us, and we have been turned down by their insurance company. I don't like to hurt a local business, but if you currently use them, you deserve to know that the person who stole from us is still working for them.

Unprofessional, mediocre cleaning, poor language skills, franchise owner very rude and disrespectful to customers!

Used service twice a month for about 3 months. Vacuuming, counters, fridge were very mediocre . Didn't vacuum under sofas(left popcorn, pretzels) fridge door only wiped down halfway leaving finger prints on bottom.no complete dusting. When I called to mention it, owner dismissed it and was very rude. The unbelievable situation came about When I saw the gal Cleaning around a small saucer in the sink! I was flabbergasted! Pick up the saucer and put it on the counter I replied. Don't clean around it! I never have a dish or dishes in the sink So this was a fluke. I received an email from the franchise owner, Telling me that they do not wash dishes! The next thing I knew, she sent me an email informing me that The Maids were terminating my service! Firing a customer because a small saucer was left in the sink! Evidently there must be some people that are willing to pay $150 per hr. with questionable extra minutes added, mediocre at best cleaning, maids that don't understand or speak English well, and disrespectful ,rude owners that don't care about customers! Without customers, franchise owners just have a contract, not a business!

The Maids, Netcong/Morris County NJ - Total Ripoff!

Called for an estimate, gave COMPLETE description of home including total number of rooms, sizes of rooms, types of floors in each room, type and number of pets and stated that a deep and thorough cleaning was needed including at least first floor windows. I was given an estimate of two to three hours for a team of four to do the job. The day of the job four employees showed up and started to work right away. The leader then told me (through very broken English) the job would take 4 to 5 hours. I was not thrilled and she contacted a supervisor. I had to move forward as we had a large function occurring in two days (no time to find a replacement). The supervisor came out and explained that the house was much larger than was described (since I did the describing in great detail, I knew this was BS). She did offer me a $50 credit when all was done. The work was completed, (although the windows had not been touched and vacuuming of one room was not done at all), a job that I was quoted at being between $300-$400 ultimately cost me $984.40!!! To make things worse, I found three items that were broken during the process (nothing expensive) that I was not told about. I have used other services in the past, if something was broken, they informed me and offered to replace it. Then I noticed that the $50 credit was not applied, I inquired about this and was told, misunderstood, the $50 would be applied to a future cleaning. After many discussions back and forth, I did get the $50 credit. A couple weeks down the line, The Maids contacted me about ongoing services on a two week basis. Their quote wad $215, since I had such a bad experience with them I had already researched other options. Quotes from other companies ranged from $80-$90 for the same service The Maids offered. Do the math, The Maids cleaning service is a total ripoff!!!

The Maids of Knoxville provide a satisfaction guarantee to all customers. It is not fair to call maids uneducated and cheap cash labor.

I have had the maids going on 12 years and I have found them to work with the customer, and the girls that come to my home are very nice and work very hard.

I have always known them to do extensive background checks on the employees and they do not have the turn around in staff that I have faced with other cleaning companies. I am sorry that this consumer did not like this company and I hope that she called with her problems and gave the company a chance to make the items she discussed okay.

John N Mzy

You must realize that the people they hire are all part time and probably paid under the table, in cash anyway. That aside, also realize the people cleaning have basically no skills at anything to begin with, let alone actually caring to do a good job cleaning someone's home. Best to do it yourself.

That is so uneducated to say about this company. All the employees are well taken care of, and the company does stand by the work and the staff that is hired.

It does not matter what you make a hour, or how educated you are to know how to do this job.

All employees are paid with a check ( Taxes are taken out) and they are not part time. I would say the skills that are provided to customers are a commendable job.

The worst maid sevice I have ever experienced in my life

The maids came in to do a cleaning in a house that I am currently moving into and they did a terrible job. They charged me $270 to do nothing in the house the windows were not cleaned the bathrooms looked like they were not even touched. There trick seems t o be using chemicals in the house that smell good to make the job seem like its done not to mention the girl that they assigned go do the bathrooms started complaining right then and there stating that she always gets stuck doing bathrooms. I guess thats why mines were not done. DO NOT GO TO THE MAIDS THEY ARE A RIP OFF.
